My name is Luis Garcia and I've been piercing for 30 years, and I currently work at NokaOi Tiki Tattoo and Piercing in Philadelphia, PA, USA. While I enjoy all piercings, I specialize in surface piercing and ear projects. Ears have been a favorite of mine since before I was an apprentice. There are so many variations of interesting placements and jewelry combinations! If I had to name a favorite piercing, it would have to be daith piercings, since even with the simplest jewelry designs, they can look interesting and elegant.
I have been a business member of the Association of Professional Piercers since 1999. I am also an educator for our industry, teaching at non profit piercing education events all over the world. Some of the organizations I have taught for are the APP, UKAPP, APTPI (Italy), BMXnet (Germany), APPE (Spain), LBPac (Mexico), and GEP (Brazil). I strongly believe in furthering our understanding of our craft and industry, to enable more piercers to evolve to a higher standard. I tend to lean towards a simple approach to education, breaking things down to the easiest way to understand the concepts, all while keeping the education laid back, interesting, and most importantly, fun.
On the personal side, I'm an avid gardener, natural science enthusiast, sci-fi nerd, anime and manga otaku, and gaming nerd. I like my “escapes” to be an unrealistic and fantastical as possible. I'm also strongly body positive, and have no tolerance for those who judge others on their look or body type. I'm also known to be painfully blunt, as I have no desire for beating around the bush, nor do I want people to beat around the bush with me.
